Originally begun as a group of emerging writers in 1986, the Scriptwriters Network truly came into its
own in 1994 when we moved the location of our meetings to Universal Studios.
The Network is a REALITY BASED organization whose purpose is to provide access to REAL information
about the way the entertainment business works and how you as a writer can make intelligent, career
advancing decisions in getting your work out to the people who count.
Emerging film and television writers shouldn't be targets for individuals or groups whose sole purpose
is to make money off your dreams and aspirations. There are many seminars, courses, organizations,
weekend retreats, etc., which purport to be about teaching you how to make it. They charge a lot of money.
Maybe they help, maybe they don't. Our philosophy is that success in this business comes from PERSEVERANCE,
LISTENING TO THOSE WHO'VE NAVIGATED THE TOUGH ROAD OF SUCCESS, and MAKING YOUR WORK THE BEST IT CAN BE.
Classes, workshops, seminars can be great, but ultimately it all comes down to you and the blank page of
paper.
Our dues are only $75 per year. This gets you into ALL MEETINGS FOR FREE. We provide you access to
hearing VERY successful writers (and sometimes producers, directors, and agents) candidly speak about
what it's like to make your way as a screenwriter. They tell intimate war stories and drop priceless
gems of information about writing salable material you can't get anywhere else.
